As CEO and co-founder of Maple Respiratory Group Inc. (MRG), Ben Asuchak leads an integrated team of medical professionals committed to a model of ‘Inspired Wellness’ in respiratory and sleep care diagnostics. His vision is to provide a multidisciplinary approach to sleep and respiratory health. This extends beyond testing and diagnostic services, to include accredited training and certification for medical professionals. In addition, he is focused on establishing MRG as a centre of excellence in clinical research and knowledge-sharing.

Under Ben’s guidance, Maple Respiratory Group has built a network of pulmonary laboratories and sleep clinics in Calgary. He has overseen efforts to bring internationally recognized standards of training and education to Columbia and other regions of the world, under the Maple Respiratory Group banner.

A graduate of the SAIT Polytechnic Respiratory Therapy Program, Ben has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering chronic lung disease and sleep disordered breathing. He has led operations as an executive/ director of four of Canada’s leading clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic solution providers.

Ben continues to dedicate his career to changing the way the medical community views chronic disease management. He serves on several professional advisory committees, and is a respected lecturer on the topic of respiratory therapy.

Rod Rousseau is the Chief Sleep Strategist of the of Maple Respiratory Group Sleep Division, with international sites throughout Colombia. He oversees a team of 380+ dedicated professionals.

Rod graduated from the NAIT Respiratory Therapy Program and is a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and a FCSRT. He is a Sleep Educator and is Certified in Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH). Rod is also a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) & Registered Sleep Technologist (RST). He’s worked in many aspects of Respiratory and Sleep care – including sleep lab diagnostics, community care, and respiratory therapy instruction (NAIT). Rob’s business experience involves management, consulting, and business development. He serves on the board for a number of companies.

Rod has remained active in education. having attended both Stanford and Atlanta’s schools of Sleep Medicine. He enjoys lecturing in Sleep Diagnostics and Therapeutics for the MRG Sleep and Respiratory Education Programs. Rod has also presented to the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, World Congress on Sleep Apnea, American Association of Sleep Technologists, and at various professional event in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, China and Colombia.

He is dedicated to changing lives through education, policy research, diagnostic and therapeutic excellence.

As Director of Maple Respiratory Group Inc., Mark Schafer, has assisted in the expansion of MRG both nationally and internationally. Over the past several years, he has worked diligently to build and maintain strong relationships across the professional healthcare field.

Mark graduated from NAIT Polytechnic Respiratory Therapy Program and is a Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT). He graduated from University of Saskatchewan’s College of Commerce, specializing in Community Health.

Mark is very active and engaged in the field of professional health and education for respiratory care and sleep health. He sits on several prominent advisory and planning committees. Mark has an incredible passion for giving back to the community and is often found leading events that create interest and enthusiasm among medical professionals and community members alike. He is a proud supporter of the Make a Wish Foundation and other local charities.

Laree Fordyce is the Director of Sleep Services at MRG, and Program Director for the MRG Sleep Training Program. She has been professionally involved in the field of sleep health for over 25 years, accumulating vast experience in both pediatric and adult sleep medicine. Her career has taken Laree across Canada and abroad. She has worked in multiple capacities: as a clinical sleep educator, technical director, sleep therapist, electro-neuro diagnostic technologist and research coordinator.

Laree oversees MRG’s Sleep Training Program, which is accredited by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) and taught internationally. Laree has had the privilege of speaking on many topics in North America, Colombia and China. She was awarded the AAST Dr. Elliot D. Weitzman Service Award in 2009, the AAST Mary Carskadon, PhD. Literary Award in 2012, the AAST Service award in 2015 and the Canadian Sleep Society Technologist Award in 2017. She is currently on the American Association of Sleep Technologist (AAST) Board of Directors.

Christy joined Maple Respiratory Group in 2016 and in this time has worked in both the Administration and Finance & Accounting Departments before becoming our Director of Human Resources & Administration.

In her current position, Christy provides assistance and leadership aimed at helping Maple Respiratory Group achieve it's strategic and organizational goals and is a resource for managers and staff in the areas of communication, training and development, human performance, culture, safety and quality improvement.  Christy leads in the development and implementation of policies and procedures ensuring compliance with CPSA Accreditation Standards for our Pulmonary Function facilities and is MRG’s Privacy Officer. Christy’s organizational skills and attention to detail has improved company workflows, enabled cost and time efficiencies, and increased patient care by leading the project that enabled our test results to be available on Alberta Netcare. Christy is a Certified Human Resources Professional and has her Project Management Certification from Mount Royal University.

Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking, interior design projects, spending time with her husband and 4 children and exploring the outdoors with their beagle.

Harold Flohr is the Financial Controller at Maple Respiratory Group Inc., where he leads and coordinates the financial and accounting activities of the company. Harold has directed successful teams across multiple industries: including healthcare, logistics and transportation, metal recycling, real estate, consumer products (retail and wholesale), and advertising. Over the course of a successful business career, Harold has worked across North America, Latin America and Asia.

Harold is a CPA, CMA and graduated with distinction from the MBA program at INCAE Business School. He is a certified Project Manager from MRU and is pursuing a PMP designation.

Meena is an experienced health care professional as well as a dynamic take-charge academic administrator with over 30 years of highly successful and diversified experience in managing three large and complex academic programs at SAIT, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

A graduate of SAIT’s respiratory therapy program, Meena earned her Master of Applied Sciences from Australia’s Charles Stuart University in 2010. Meena spent more than a decade in the industry, working for the Calgary Health Region and Medigas Praxair Inc. before returning to SAIT as an instructor in 2000. In 2008, she became the Academic Chair for Therapeutic Services and in 2018 took on the role of Academic Chair for Life Sciences where she was responsible for the respiratory and paramedicine programs.

Meena has a strong passion for effective leadership and has presented on leadership and educational topics at several national and international conferences. She has received the Certificate for Advanced Leadership and Development from the Chair Academy. Furthermore, she has dedicated herself to ensuring learners are best prepared for their careers.

Our roots run deep

Maple trees have deep root systems that can extend as far as 25’ from the tree. At Maple Respiratory Group, our roots date back decades prior to our formation.

 

RHS Canada is founded by Ben Asuchak and Rod Rousseau. Provider of oxygen therapy, Home  sleep apnea testing (HSAT), CPAP equipment.

RHS receives full accreditation. Becomes Canada’s third largest provider of sleep and chronic lung disease services. 53 offices coast-to-coast.

Sound Sleep Solutions becomes accredited by the College of Physician and Surgeons (CPSA).

RHS opens pulmonary/respiratory diagnostic and follow-up treatment clinics in China.

Maple Respiratory Education begins providing international certified training in Sleep Technology. Our Sleep Courses are accredited by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) STAR Program and by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) A-STEP Program.

Sound Sleep Solutions becomes accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). It is one of three sites in Canada to receive this accreditation.

RHS Canadian Homecare Division sold to VitalAire Canada Inc. Maple Respiratory Group is born with a focus on sleep and respiratory disorders.

Both Lung Diagnostic Centres Inc. and Sound Sleep Solutions become part of the MRG family.

MRG establishes a relationship with Chinese Association of Geriatric Sleep Sciences to establish standardization of polysomnographic laboratories.

MRG opens 17 locations in Columbia, across seven cities to serve 18,000+ patients.

MRG establishes a Respiratory Educator (PREP) Program.

MRG brings all operating arms together under a unified brand.
