Those training to challenge the Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) credentialing exam.
MRG is an approved provider for the Canadian Network for Respiratory Care (CNRC) health education courses and offers the Professional Respiratory Educator Program (PREP) to prepare individuals who wish to challenge the CRE exam.
The Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) credential recognizes healthcare professionals who provide respiratory education to their clients, including education in both asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Upon receiving this credential, these individuals have the competencies to provide comprehensive, evidence-informed care in asthma and COPD.

Yes, this course is approved by the Canadian Network for Respiratory Care and is required to challenge the CRE credentialing exam.
Once you have registered for the course, you will need:
Access to CTE, GOLD and GINA guidelines which are available online for free
- Workbook which will be mailed to you upon registration by MRG (allow 7-10 days)
- Computer (laptop or desktop)
- Strong internet connection
- Time (six to eight hours per week)
- Commitment and dedication
It is a 40-hour program delivered over 5 weeks. Time commitment required per week is 6-7 hours of doing pre-reading and reviewing the course material and 1-1.5 hours of virtual sessions
The virtual sessions are scheduled on Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm every week. Attendance at these sessions is strongly recommended and is mandatory in week 5. The sessions in weeks 1-4 are recorded for those who are not able to attend.

The exam is held twice a year, in June and November. He dates for the exam vary each year and can be found on the CNRC website (http://www.cnrchome.net/certified-respiratory-educator-(cre).html#).
This course covers the curriculum requirement for Foundational Health Education, Asthma and COPD.
This course includes the basic concepts regarding tobacco cessation but does not cover the required curriculum to challenge the exam for CTE credential.
The content can be accessed on the learning management system for 6 months from the date of registration for the course.
You will need to contact the faculty for remediation if available. Not all components of the course can be remediated.
