At MRG, we conduct home oxygen assessment at no cost to the client to determine if the patient may benefit from oxygen therapy. A qualified Respiratory Therapist will come to your house for a thorough respiratory assessment and if necessary, will recommend for arterial blood gas to determine if the client will qualify for Government funding to cover the cost of oxygen therapy. Some patients may need oxygen only when they exert but not when they are at rest. The Respiratory Therapist will monitor the oxygen levels while the patient exerts and will recommend appropriate tests that are required for receiving government funding for exertional oxygen. The therapist will also send a detailed report to the patient’s physicians for their advice and approval.

Six-Minute Walk Test
The American Thoracic Society describes the six-minute walk test as a measure of functional status or fitness. Your Respiratory Therapist will use the results of this test as a simple measure of aerobic exercise capacity.
During this test, you walk at your normal pace for six minutes. This test can be used to monitor your response to treatments for heart, lung and other health problems.
