The most common Sleep-related Breathing Disorder is Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). It can be caused when soft tissue in our airway falls to the back of our throat, blocking off the passage of air. This can cause snoring. When we stop breathing, even momentarily, it can cause a decrease in the amount of oxygen we are getting. This can have long term impacts on our health.
Most people who suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea are not even aware they have a problem. Often it is pointed out by a partner or family member.
